Typing name after name into Roblox only to see that each one is already taken gets old very quickly. Even when you do find a free one, changing it later costs 1,000 Robux, which makes the choice feel even bigger.
Our Roblox username generator gives you aesthetic, action, and rare-looking handles between 3 and 20 characters, which matches what Roblox allows. A few of the tool's extras can break one Roblox rule, and we point those out below.
What Are the Roblox Username Rules?
Roblox keeps its username rules short, but each one decides whether your new name goes through. Every username has to follow these:
- It must be 3 to 20 characters long.
- It can only use letters, numbers, and underscores, with no spaces or periods.
- It can include one underscore at most, and that underscore cannot be the first or last character.
- It cannot include personal details like your full name, address, or phone number.
- It has to be unique, which means nobody else on Roblox can already have it.
Your display name works differently. It is the name most players see above your avatar, it does not have to be unique, and you can change it for free once every seven days.
Which Generated Names Need a Quick Fix?
Most results work exactly as they are, but two settings can create names that Roblox will reject. We would rather you hear about it here than on the sign-up screen.
- Seed Words With Periods: When you type a seed word, some results join it to another word with a period, such as alex.velvet. Roblox does not allow periods, and swapping it for an underscore or removing it fixes the name.
- Two Underscores: Decorations like x_ and v1_ add an underscore, and a base that already has one, such as Shadow_fang, ends up with two. A base without an underscore keeps these decorations inside the rules.
How Do You Find a Roblox Username That Is Not Taken?
Roblox has a huge number of accounts, and common word pairs are often gone already. These steps give you the best chance of landing a name that is still free:
- Choose a Style: Pick Aesthetic & Bloxburg, Action & Anime Games, or Rare & Short Handles, depending on the games you play most.
- Add Your Own Word if You Want: A seed word such as your nickname makes every result more personal, and personal names are less likely to be taken.
- Generate a Large Batch: Choosing 40 or 80 under Results Count gives you plenty of backups to try.
- Save Your Top Picks: Tap the heart on each name you like, and they stay in the Saved panel in this browser.
- Check It on Roblox: Type your favorite into the username box on the sign-up page or the username change screen, and Roblox tells you right away whether it is available.
Which Roblox Username Style Should You Pick?
We built three word lists around the kinds of experiences people play on Roblox, from cozy roleplay to anime fighting games.
Aesthetic & Bloxburg
Soft words like Velvet, Honey, and Peachy make names such as MochiVibes, PastelFairy, or CozyCottage. They suit roleplay, building, and cafe games, where a friendly name fits the mood.
Action & Anime Games
Sharper words like Shadow, Reaper, and Blade create names such as VortexNinja or FrostSamurai. These feel right in fighting, tycoon, and anime games, where a tougher name matches the action.
Rare & Short Handles
This style creates short invented words like Vexly, Norika, or Kiroto that look like early Roblox accounts. Made-up words are less likely to be taken, which makes this category a good place to start if your first picks keep failing.
Should You Spend 1,000 Robux on a New Username?
If you only want a new look, changing your display name is free, and you can do it once a week. We would save the 1,000 Robux for a real need, such as an old username that feels too childish or includes personal details.
Roblox also shows your past usernames on your profile, which means friends can still find you after a change.
Which Roblox Username Should You Keep?
We would keep a name that is short, easy to spell, and free of anything personal, because it may follow you for years. Try your top three on Roblox, and keep the first one that goes through.
